Dr. Alicia M. Harrison

Dr. Alicia M. Harrison is the newest optometric physician in Laguna Beach. She earned her Doctorate in Optometry at the world-renowned University of California at Berkeley. She also earned a bachelor’s degree in Physiology and Neurology from the University of California at San Diego.

“Like my father, I am grateful to have the opportunity to make a difference in the way people are able to view the world and how they perform at the things they wish to do. I am particularly thankful to be highly trained in preventing vision loss due to eye disease.”

Her clinical training included several specialized internships: primary care/ocular disease at the Rosebud Indian Health Services Hospital, South Dakota and La Clinica de La Raza in Oakland, California; surgical/ocular disease at The Barnet-Dulaney Eye Center in Phoenix, Arizona, where she assisted in the care of cataract and refractive surgery patients; and pediatrics and low vision at The Meredith Morgan Eye Clinic in Berkeley, California. In addition, she was selected for special training at the Vistakon/Acuvue Headquarters in Florida and the Alcon Pharmaceutical Headquarters in Texas. Most recently, Dr. Harrison attended the Varilux/Essilor Academy in Vancouver, British Columbia for special training in progressive multifocal lenses.

At UC Berkeley, Dr. Harrison had many leadership roles. Her peers selected her to be the American Optometric Student Association Trustee and the Alumni Association Student Liaison. Both the California Optometric and Alameda-Contra Costa County Optometric Associations honored her with awards for her leadership qualities and community involvement.

Dr. Harrison was Valedictorian at Dana Hills High School, where she was also inducted to the DHHS Dolphin Wall of Fame for her excellence in athletics. As a teenager, she was also very involved in the community with the National Charity League and club athletics.
